Fujifilm · Mirrorless · APS-C · 2022
Fujifilm announced the X-T5 on 2 November 2022 with a 40.2 MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor, at the time the highest-resolution APS-C sensor on the market. It's smaller than the X-T4, and it went back to a tilting rear screen, which DPReview called excellent, after the X-T4's side-swinging one. In-body stabilization is rated at up to 7 stops, and a pixel shift mode combines 20 frames into a 160 MP file, though you assemble it on a computer. The finder is a 3.69M-dot OLED, and it keeps the NP-W235 battery, rated for about 580 shots, and twin UHS-II card slots. All that resolution asks a lot of lenses, and DPReview warned that not every XF lens delivers on it. The 2024 X-T50 uses the same sensor in a smaller, cheaper body, so read listing titles carefully.

Shutter count
Fujifilm writes an image count into each original file's maker notes. Ask for an untouched JPEG or RAF and read the ImageCount tag with ExifTool, and know that it can reset to zero after a firmware update. Without a rating, compare the count with how the camera was used and price a busy body lower.
How to read a shutter count →The family
The X-T4 has 26.1 MP and a side-hinged screen. The 2024 X-T50 uses the same 40.2 MP sensor in a smaller, cheaper body, so watch for the extra zero in listing titles.
We found no recall for the X-T5. DPReview's criticisms were tracking autofocus that lags rivals and pixel shift files that need a computer to assemble, and older XF lenses may not resolve all 40 MP.
Buying guide
We'd buy a used X-T5 body with a titled count, and $1,577 to $1,610 delivered gets one at 160 or 8,346 shots, under the $1,710 median. There are at least 162 listed, and used bodies mostly ask $1,525–2,025 delivered, while across the whole page refurbished ones run about $1,790 at the median and new retail roughly $2,280. Fujifilm doesn't publish a shutter rating, so ask for an untouched JPEG or RAF and read the ImageCount tag with ExifTool, knowing a firmware update can reset it. Ask whether the NP-W235 battery is included, and check the photos for LCD scratches and a worn grip. Skip the zero-feedback sellers, most asking over the band, and the China listings that share one photo and title between two accounts.
