Canon RF mount cameras

Canon announced the RF mount in September 2018 with the EOS R, its first full-frame mirrorless camera. It keeps the EF mount's 54 mm opening but cuts the flange distance to 20 mm and uses 12 contacts. RF-S lenses for APS-C bodies followed in 2022. Canon makes three EF-EOS R adapters, a plain one, one with a control ring and one with drop-in filters, so EF and EF-S lenses work on any RF body.

EF-S and RF-S lenses on a full-frame RF body switch it to a 1.6x APS-C crop, and RF lenses can't be used on EF DSLRs.
