Fujifilm · Mirrorless · APS-C · 2020
Fujifilm announced the X-T4 on 25 February 2020. It keeps the X-T3's 26.1 MP X-Trans 4 sensor and processor and adds the one big thing the X-T3 lacked, in-body stabilization rated at up to 6.5 stops. Fujifilm also built a new shutter with better damping, rated for 300,000 cycles, twice the X-T2's rating, and fast enough for 15 frames a second. The screen now swings out to the side instead of tilting, and a larger NP-W235 battery lasts about 500 shots per charge. There's a dedicated movie switch, the Eterna Bleach Bypass film simulation, and 1080p at 240 frames a second for slow motion. The trade-offs are a little extra size and weight, and the headphone jack is gone, replaced by a USB-C adapter in the box. It doesn't come with an external charger either. The X-T5 went back to a tilting screen in 2022.

Shutter count
Fujifilm writes an image count into each original file's maker notes. Ask for an untouched JPEG or RAF and read the ImageCount tag with ExifTool, and know that it can reset to zero after a firmware update. The rating is the maker's test figure, not a limit, so read it as a guide to how much use is left.
How to read a shutter count →The family
Over the X-T3 it adds in-body stabilization, a side-hinged screen, the bigger NP-W235 battery and a new shutter rated for 300,000 cycles, in a slightly larger body. The 2022 X-T5 went back to a tilting screen and 40 MP.
We found no recall for the X-T4. The side-hinged screen and the removable card slot cover are the parts to look over, and the box never included an external charger, so don't expect one.
Buying guide
We'd buy a refurbished or low-count X-T4 from a US seller, and $1,223 delivered gets one titled 7,320 shots, under 3% of Fujifilm's 300,000-cycle rating. There are at least 212 listed, and most ask $1,025–1,525 delivered, with China and Hong Kong resellers filling the bottom from $956, many of them titling it 24.3MP, a copied spec line since the X-T4 is 26.1MP. Fujifilm writes an image count into each file, so ask for an untouched JPEG or RAF and read the ImageCount tag with ExifTool, though a firmware update can reset it. Look over the side-hinged screen and the removable card slot cover in the photos, and expect the NP-W235 battery but no external charger, since the box never had one. Skip the sellers at 50% or zero feedback, and the Japan listings at $2,714 and up that share one 661-shot title between two sellers.

The lowest-priced X-T4, a body at $956 delivered from a China reseller with 100% feedback. The title names no battery, and it ships from China, so ask about both the NP-W235 and returns.

Refurbished and titled 7,320 shots, under 3% of Fujifilm's 300,000-cycle rating, at $1,223 delivered from a US seller with 99.8% feedback. That's mid-band for a body with very little use, so just confirm the NP-W235 battery is included.
