Fujifilm · Mirrorless · APS-C · 2019
Fujifilm announced the X-Pro3 on 23 October 2019, and it's the most opinionated camera in the X range. Its main screen faces the body and flips down only when you want it, for checking a shot or shooting from the waist. Closed, it shows a small color memory LCD that displays the film simulation or your settings and holds its image with almost no battery drain. Like the X-Pro1 and X-Pro2, it has a hybrid finder, and a lever on the front swaps between an optical tunnel with bright framelines and a 3.69M-dot OLED electronic view. Street photographers like that optical view because they can see what's about to walk into frame. The top and base plates are titanium, painted black or coated in the harder Dura Black and Dura Silver finishes. Inside is the 26.1 MP X-Trans 4 sensor, with no in-body stabilization, and it was made in Japan.

Shutter count
Fujifilm writes an image count into each original file's maker notes. Ask for an untouched JPEG or RAF and read the ImageCount tag with ExifTool, and know that it can reset to zero after a firmware update. Without a rating, compare the count with how the camera was used and price a busy body lower.
How to read a shutter count →The family
It came in painted black or with the harder DuraTect coating as Dura Black and Dura Silver, on titanium top and base plates. The X-Pro1 and X-Pro2 have a conventional rear screen, and the X-Pro3's hides until you flip it down.
We found no recall for the X-Pro3. The flip-down screen hinge is the part to check closely, and reviewers found the DuraTect finishes show fingerprints, which wipe off and aren't damage.
Buying guide
We'd pay about $1,450 delivered for a US body with a stated shutter count, and one titled 14,415 shots asks that. There are at least 84 listed, most asking $1,475–2,350 delivered, with Japan dealers adding $125–750 shipping, and the Dura Black and Dura Silver bodies, with the harder DuraTect coating, often ask more than the painted black ones. Fujifilm publishes no shutter rating and a firmware update can reset the count, so read ImageCount from an untouched JPEG or RAF with ExifTool and judge it with the body's age. Ask for photos of the hidden rear screen flipped fully down and then closed, since that hinge is the part to check, and make sure the NP-W126S battery comes with it.
