The 90D landed in August 2019 with a 32.5-megapixel sensor, the highest resolution Canon ever put in an APS-C DSLR. It replaced the 80D at the same launch price. You get 10 fps through the viewfinder, 45 cross-type AF points with face tracking from a 220,000-pixel metering sensor, and Dual Pixel AF with eye detection in live view. Video steps up to 4K without a crop, with an optional crop mode if you want more reach. A joystick for moving the AF point came back to Canon's two-digit line for the first time since the 50D. It takes EF and EF-S lenses, and Canon sold it body-only or with the EF-S 18-55mm IS STM or 18-135mm IS USM. Canon released its last DSLR in 2020 and has said it won't make new ones, so this is about as modern as an EF-S body gets.

Shutter count
Canon doesn't show the count in the menu. Ask the seller to read it over USB with a shutter-count app that lists the 90D and send a screenshot. Without a rating, compare the count with how the camera was used and price a busy body lower.
How to read a shutter count →The family
Over the 80D it moves from 24.2 to 32.5 megapixels, from 7 to 10 fps and from 1080p to 4K, and adds a joystick and a UHS-II card slot. Both take EF and EF-S lenses.
We found no service notice or widespread defect reported for the 90D, so a used one comes down to wear and shutter count.
Buying guide
We'd buy a refurbished body from a US dealer, and $879 delivered gets one, under the $1,062 median. There are at least 196 listed, and most ask $900–1,225 delivered, with kits with the 18-55mm, 18-135mm or 50mm lens mostly asking $875 to $1,230. Across the whole first results page, refurbished cards ask a median near $1,025, about what used ones do, while open-box cards ask around $1,556. Canon doesn't publish a shutter rating for the 90D or show the count in the menu, so ask for a screenshot from a USB shutter-count app that lists it, and pick one with the LP-E6N battery and charger or budget for them. Skip the three China listings at $729 to $749 that share one photo across sellers.
$749.99delivered
The lowest-priced 90D we'd consider, a US body at $750 with free shipping. The title gives the shutter count as N/A, so ask the seller to read it over USB, and budget for an LP-E6N and charger since neither is named.
